About Anna Bergman
ANNA BERGMAN has been hailed by The Washington Post as “a songstress who has triumphed in everything from Broadway-flavored tunes to opera arias and the sultry innuendoes of the cabaret chanteuse” and named “One of the best singers in America” by The International Herald Daily News. Anna enjoys an international career performing in concerts, cabaret, theatre, opera and on television and recordings. Career highlights include: Lincoln Center’s American Songbook (with Barbara Cook); concert version of The Light in the Piazza (as Margaret) with Adam Guettel at Seattle’s Intiman Theatre and a return engagement in September ’08 at Feinstein’s at Loews Regency with her new show My Heart Stood Still: The Love Songs of Richard Rodgers. Anna performed in the Kennedy Center’s Sondheim Celebration in A Little Night Music and as soloist in Carnegie Hall’s centennial tribute to Ira Gershwin, at the White House and with the Pasadena Pops Orchestra. Her solo concert You & the Night & the Music: A Salon Performance with Anna Bergman aired on public television in 2007 -08.
Raised abroad as the daughter of an American diplomat, Anna’s signature repertoire celebrates the American songbook and European music in a range of styles from pop to classical in a variety of languages. Other concert appearances include London’s Café Royal, London’s Lost Musicals with Kitty Carlisle Hart, the International Festival of Cardiff Wales in Waltz of My Heart: The Music of Ivor Novello (BBC TV), as Diana Devereaux in Mr. Gershwin Goes to Washington at the Music Festival of the Hamptons, Aspen Music Festival, Chicago Humanities Festival with Steve Ross, Manaus Opera House (Brazil), New York Festival of Song and Lyrics & Lyricists.
As a singer and actress, Anna has appeared in leading theatres in such roles as Kate in Kiss Me Kate, Masha in Three Sisters, Cordelia in Falsettoland , Guenevere in Camelot, Donny in The Cryptogram, Big Jane in Three Postcards, Jenny in The Beggar’s Opera, Valencienne in The Merry Widow and Rose in the opera Blood On The Dining Room Floor. Known for her “glorious voice and captivating, classy program and performance” (Cabaret Scenes), Anna has garnered critical acclaim for her own concert-cabarets at such venues as the Kennedy Center, the Algonquin Hotel’s Oak Room, The Stanhope Hotel, Caramoor and Strathmore Centers for the Arts, Prince Music Theatre (Philadelphia), The Colony Hotel (Palm Beach), Crest Theatre (FL), Guild Hall (East Hampton), Le Chat Noir (New Orleans).
